This is a list of reference tables, similar to the collection of reference tables found at the back of almanacs, dictionaries and encyclopedias (or an index of them, if they’re scattered throughout the work).

It includes listings or tabular information for quick reference, not narrative articles.

Lists and Categories

Lists served mainly as checklists of topics that have something in common, so that we all see which ones need articles. Categories provides a way to automatically generate an updated list of articles on a broad or narrow subject. Since Categories cannot list articles that don’t yet exist, you don’t know whether an article doesn’t exist or it just doesn’t have a Category link yet.

How To

A how-to is an informal, often short, description of how to accomplish some specific task. They are generally meant to help non-experts, and may leave out details that are only important to experts, and may be greatly simplified from an overall discussion of the topic. See procedural knowledge for a discussion of what sort of knowledge is imparted, and how far it can be imparted, in how-tos.

Other types of instructional documentation include FAQs, manuals and guides. The Encyclopedia of Law contains some procedural knowledge.
